Where the Cartridges Go

Every cartridge is responsibly handled through our Zero Waste to Landfill guarantee:

  • Material Recovery: All cartridges are carefully sorted and processed, ensuring no waste goes to landfill. Plastics, metals, and toner powder are recovered and repurposed into new materials, supporting a fully circular outcome.
  • Reuse & Remanufacture: Under certain OEM programs, selected components are cleaned, emptied and repacked for reuse, or returned to manufacturers for refurbishment. By extending the life of usable components and recovering materials responsibly, we reduce the need for new raw materials and support genuine circular outcomes.
  • Ink → Creative Reuse: Recovered ink is recieved at Close the Loop and supplied to Lousy Ink, where it’s turned into graphic pens, artist inks and creative products - giving waste ink a meaningful second life.
  • Toner → TonerPlas®: Toner cartridges are crushed and separated. The recovered toner powder, combined with soft plastics and specialty additives, becomes TonerPlas® - our award-winning asphalt modifier used in more than 1,000 km of Australian roads. TonerPlas® helps create higher-performance, lower-carbon, longer lasting and fully recyclable road surfaces.

Your school’s cartridges may even help build Australia’s most sustainable freeway, a real-world example students can be proud of.
