Close the Loop works with leading printer, beauty, and personal care brands to make responsible product recovery easier, more accessible, and free for eligible products across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

For over 25 years, Close the Loop has helped manufacturers, retailers and brand owners take responsibility for products at end of life, building recovery systems that are practical, compliant and designed to keep materials in use.
Product stewardship means brands take responsibility for what happens after their products are used. In these programs, participating brands help fund the collection, transport, recycling, recovery and reporting systems needed to keep used cartridges and packaging out of landfill.
These programs span printer consumables, beauty packaging and other complex product categories where responsible recovery requires specialist collection, sorting and processing capability.
Close the Loop’s recycling programs are made possible by supporting brands that voluntarily fund product stewardship for their customers.
That means eligible products can be recycled at no cost because participating brands have already invested in the collection, recovery and reporting systems behind the program.
These partners cover the real costs of:

Because of their commitment, eligble products can be recycled at no cost.
This support goes beyond compliance. It helps fund real circular outcomes, including innovations such as TonerPlas®, which turns recovered toner powder into new infrastructure solutions.

The following printer brands fund free recycling for eligible genuine cartridges used by their customers. Their support covers the national recovery system behind the program, from collection and logistics through to processing, reporting, and responsible material recovery..

HP and Samsung cartridge returns are managed through HP Planet Partners. If your organisation mainly uses HP or Samsung products, please register through HP.
Free recycling is funded by participating OEM partners and applies only to eligible genuine cartridges from those supported brands.
If your organisation regularly returns compatible, clone, remanufactured, or other unsupported cartridges, we may ask you to move to our Pay As You Go option. This keeps the program fair, transparent, and financially sustainable while allowing these products to continue being collected and recycled responsibly.
These contributions help cover the real cost of collection boxes and bags, transport, sorting, recycling, reporting, and responsible recovery for products not funded by manufacturer stewardship programs. Not sure whether your cartridges are supported? Contact our team and we will help you choose the right pathway.

Close the Loop operates the recycling and recovery system. Planet Ark helps bring the program to the public.
Since 2003, Close the Loop and Planet Ark have worked together through Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, one of Australia’s longest-running voluntary product stewardship programs.
Close the Loop manages the collection, logistics, processing, recovery, and reporting. Planet Ark supports public education and awareness, helping Australians understand how and where to recycle their used cartridges.
The Cartridges 4 Planet Ark public program is currently supported by HP, Canon, Epson and Brother. Their contribution helps fund Planet Ark’s education and awareness work, while supporting convenient cartridge recovery through public drop-off and office collection pathways. Together, the program gives home users, small offices and community groups access to convenient cartridge drop-off locations across Australia. Eligible cartridges from supported print partners can be returned at participating public drop-off points at no cost.
Some collection boxes may be stored behind the counter due to space constraints. If you cannot see the box, please ask store staff.
Return eligible cartridges through the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark public drop-off network at participating retailers and community locations across Australia.
