Close the Loop partners with schools, councils, retailers, and everyday Australians to turn sustainability into everyday action. From soft plastics to batteries, we deliver practical circular solutions that help communities keep valuable materials in circulation and out of landfill.
We work hand in hand with local communities through programs designed to be accessible, practical, and locally relevant. Our model includes:
Collected materials are sent to the appropriate Close the Loop Group facility or downstream partner for responsible processing - in line with our commitment to maximising resource recovery and minimising waste to landfill.

In collaboration with Woolworths, Coles, and ALDI, an in-store soft-plastics collection trial was launched across 12 metro Melbourne supermarkets. Collected soft plastics are processed locally into high-value outputs such as TonerPlas® (used in road infrastructure) and rFlex® recycled plastics, helping keep household soft plastics circulating in the Australian economy.

Our UL94-certified Battery Recycling Box provides workplaces, schools, and retailers with a safe and compliant way to collect used household batteries.
Each box includes delivery, pick-up, and onshore recycling through Envirostream, Australia’s leading battery recycler, which recovers more than 95% of materials from collected batteries.
This service helps organisations manage battery waste safely and responsibly while keeping hazardous materials out of landfill.

During National Recycling Week 2024, we partnered with Officeworks and Brother to host community e-waste pop-up events across metro hubs.
Households were invited to drop off batteries, tech, and printer cartridges while learning about responsible disposal and circular design.
Close the Loop supports Australian schools through the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program - a free national printer cartridge recycling initiative established in 2003.
This program:
To date, the program has diverted over 50 million cartridges from landfill.

Through collaborations with global beauty brands - including MAC, Innisfree, and L’Occitane - Close the Loop provides in-store cosmetic-packaging drop-off at participating retailers.
We recycle a wide range of cosmetic packaging, including lipstick tubes, compacts, foundation bottles, aerosols, and perfume containers, giving hard-to-recycle materials a new circular pathway.

We work with municipal councils to support local soft-plastics recovery initiatives, drop-off points, and community collection efforts.
In several council partnerships, collected soft plastics are transformed into TonerPlas® and used in local road-infrastructure projects - a clear example of circular design in action. We also support school and community outreach through workshops, presentations, and participation in local sustainability events.
